Reopening Procedures for CrossFit Pickering
Must read by all athletes

Effective: July 6, 2020

The Management at CrossFit Pickering has created the following reopening procedure document to ensure, as best as possible, a safe and successful reopening of our facilities.  All athletes must adhere to the following guidelines.  Any discrepancies can be discussed with the Coach on duty or can be taken up directly with Marta Blaze.

FACILITY ACCESS
Athletes will be able to access the facility 5 minutes before session start times and will be required to leave the facility 5 minutes after conclusion of their session.  You will not be allowed to enter if you are late.   You must wear a mask when entering the front door until you have passed temperature screening.

You will enter CFP through the front door and leave through the back door.  Before entering the training area, we ask that you please wash your hands with soap and water.   Upon entry into the Training Area you will have your temperature checked.    You will leave your bags and shoes on the silver shelving near the back door.

At this time, we are not permitted to use floor fans or chalk buckets. (we are looking at alternatives)   Each Athlete will be assigned a 9×9 taped off area to complete their training session at the beginning of class, this is your “square” .

HEALTH CHECKS
You will have your temperature checked upon entry into the facility.   If you are experiencing any of these symptoms you are not permitted to enter the facility:

  • Headache
  • Cold
  • Cough
  • “Not feeling well”
  • Fever
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Nausea or vomiting

Any athletes who have travelled out of province will not be permitted to enter until AFTER they have self-isolated for a minimum of 2 weeks upon return.  If you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19, you will also need to self isolate for 14 days.

CLASS TIMES
Class times will be temporarily altered to accommodate for COVID 19 restrictions.  Classes will now be 50 minutes long.  We feel confident that we will be able to review and add classes in the near future but we must follow the Government of Ontario guidelines.  We have scheduled COMPETITION TRAINING times for the month of July for those in need of additional training.   We will be assessing the schedule on an ongoing basis to make any necessary changes to allow for a better experience.   We will phase in our specialty classes and more Competition Training over the next few weeks.   Please be patient with us.

You will be responsible for stretching after class at home.

LOCKER ROOMS
The locker rooms will remain off-limits for the immediate future, this includes the shower rooms.  Athletes will be required to bring their necessary personal equipment with them for each workout session.  Bring your outdoor shoes into the gym and leave them either beside the back door or in your square.  Remove all of your personal equipment when you leave.

EQUIPMENT
Athletes will be instructed by Coaches when to gather and return their equipment.   You will be limited to 2 at a time within a given area and those two must maintain a distance of two meters apart.  We will be arranging the equipment in a manner to allow for this, and also to accommodate an efficient method of equipment gathering/returning.  Consider this the 2×2 rule, 2 people 2 meters.
For training involving Rowing or Cycling, the morning coaches will move the Ergs in the Squares and they will remain there all day.  The evening coaches will return the Ergs to their usual storage location.  The floor layout is designed with the intent of facilitating distance between both athletes and staff.  If a member requires specialized equipment, a CFP team member will be able to assist.

COMPETITION TRAINING
Any member attending Open Training time will be required to follow all of the same disinfecting rules as noted in this document.  Competition training time is also limited to 50 minutes.  Athletes must enter through the main door and exit through the rear door as stated in the FACILITIES ACCESS section of this document.

DISINFECTING YOUR SQUARE AND EQUIPMENT
You are responsible for disinfecting all equipment used including the Ergs.  We have increased our supply of disinfecting wipes for your use.
Floor cleaning – We will provide spray bottles and little towels if you feel that you need to clean the floor before you work out in your square.   If we do workouts where your hands touch the floor, we will expect you to bring a towel or/and YOGA mat to put down for your hands.

DISINFECTION PROCEDURES (not included within your workout equipment and square)
We are awaiting our delivery of Nano Septic Film to disinfect all high touch area.  Until this arrives, please disinfect all areas you come in contact with outside of your WOD area.  This includes the bathroom, The Crossover Symmetry, racking and anything else you may come in contact with.

NOTIFICATIONS
Athletes will be required to notify Marta Blaze via email or phone, if they test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of their last facility visit.  This information is required so that we can contact all potentially exposed persons if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 at our facility. Member identities will be kept confidential in all notifications and communications.

CAPACITY
To ensure safe distancing and other safety protocols we will be limiting class sizes.  Athletes will be required to book each session in advance using our booking software.   Please only book your class 7 days in advance.  Class capacity will be limited and strictly adhered to, with a waitlist being open for all classes to backfill cancellations.
If you know that you won’t be able to make the class please cancel in the booking software.

CHILDREN
For the time being we will not allow children in the facility except for babies in strollers.  Thank you for understanding.
